Terms & Conditions: Waiting Lists
Introduction
Managing open-enrolment courses can be challenging, as a minimum number of participants is required to make each course viable.
Previously, we operated simple waiting lists where learners could register their interest. However, when courses became viable, or even when only one final place was needed to confirm delivery, responses were often non existent from those on the waiting lists.
Once a waiting list reaches viability, we will invite all interested learners to an online meeting to agree dates that work for the group.
There are a total number of spaces per course, and you will see the number of spaces left on the deposit window to give you an idea of how many others are likely waiting.
Below is the detailed aspect of how this works, and how we will deal with your transaction with us. If at any time you have questions - Contact Us for clarification.
Understanding the Waiting List
A waiting list is not a confirmed course booking. It expresses your interest in attending a course that does not yet have confirmed dates.
Waiting lists are created for courses requiring a minimum number of participants to be viable.
Completion of the waiting list process is required before a course is scheduled and confirmed, at which point your place may transfer to an open course booking.
Deposit Requirement
To join a waiting list, you must pay a fully refundable waiting list deposit.
The deposit amount will contribute toward your course fee once dates are agreed.
How the Waiting List Process Works
Once enough deposits are received to make a course viable, we will contact all deposit-paying individuals to agree suitable course dates.
Dates will be arranged in consultation with the group; confirmed dates will be published and followed with formal enrolment details.
When dates are confirmed, your booking will transfer from the waiting list to a scheduled course booking. At this stage, our Course & Qualification Terms & Conditions will fully apply.
Refunds & Withdrawals
Your deposit is fully refundable at any time before course dates are agreed — no questions asked.
You may request a refund if:
You secure training elsewhere
The agreed dates do not suit you
Your personal circumstances change
Or for any other reason
— without penalty.
Once dates are agreed and published, the waiting list deposit will be treated as a course deposit and subject to our standard refund and cancellation terms under the Course & Qualification Terms & Conditions.
Communication
We will use the contact details you provide to communicate about waiting list updates, deposit receipts, date arrangements, and enrolment transitions.
You are responsible for keeping your contact information up to date.
No Guarantee of Course Delivery
Joining a waiting list does not guarantee a course will be scheduled. Courses are subject to viability and SCTNI’s operational capacity.
If a course does not proceed due to insufficient interest or other reasons, deposits will be fully refunded.
Transition to Standard Terms
Once dates are agreed and your place is confirmed on a scheduled course, our Course & Qualification Terms & Conditions will apply (including provisions on cancellation, rescheduling, and liability).
You will be notified of the effective date of your booking and the applicable cancellation/refund terms at that time.
Data Protection
Your personal data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By joining a waiting list you consent to use of your information for course scheduling and communication purposes.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Northern Ireland. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Northern Ireland courts.
