First Response Emergency Care level 3

Commonly referred to as FREC 3, this is Pre-hospital qualification is the entry point in a progressive suite of qualifications released by Qualsafe Awards, an Ofqual regulated Awarding Organisation.

The qualification is aimed for people who work, or hope to work as emergency care providers in various healthcare settings, such as:

  • Voluntary Ambulance Sector
  • Private Ambulance Sector
  • High Risk Environments
  • Security / Close Protection
  • Event Medical Sector

This is regulated qualification, and as such requires a demonstration of competency by the learner. Learners must demonstrate knowledge and competency in order to be awarded the Qualification. The qualification is assessed by ongoing formative assessments, combined with practical and theory assessments including:

  • 12 Practical Skills tests
  • 3 Paper based exercises (PRF form and labelled diagrams)
  • 3 Multiple choice question papers.

Learners are encouraged to undertake further research and study in between classes in their own time.

Vocational route to becoming a Paramedic
We are delighted to announce that instead of undertaking a 3 year Paramedic Science degree programme, those who wish to become a paramedic can now complete our progressive suite of vocational prehospital care qualifications as part of a HCPC approved programme in as little as 2 years!

Set to revolutionise the industry, this fantastic new route is broken down into 4 stages to allow Learners to get the career they want, at a pace to suit them:

Learners begin by completing the QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF), followed by the QA Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (QCF) and then the QA Level 5 Diploma in First Response Emergency and Urgent Care (RQF) in year 1. They can then complete the 1 year QA Level 6 Diploma in Paramedic Practice (RQF), in year 2, as part of a HCPC approved programme to allow them to apply to become a HCPC paramedic.
