First Person on Scene (Basic)


The purpose of the First Person on Scene © (FPOS) qualifications is to provide immediate life support to the patient , stabilise and manage the situation until professional medical help arrives.

The training has been developed in partnership with the Institute of Health Care Development (IHCD), Edexcel and the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).

Learners who successfully complete the course will gain the following certificates:

This course has two elements of assessment to ensure learners have picked up and understood the required knowledge for the First Person on Scene (Basic) elements; these include:

Formative Assessment to cover:

  • Review questions during sessions
  • practical observation sessions throughout

Summative Assessment to cover:

  • Unseen Multiple Choice Question Paper
  • 90 Minute Practical Assessment
